Instead of praising resilience, nurture resilience by helping wisely

Resilience is one of the three most important skills one can develop, combined with (among other traits) creativity and empathy. Especially in severely dramatic and dangerous situations, resilience is key. But it's not enough. Surviving is not thriving. Barely staying alive while giving it your all can only be upheld for so long. More is needed. Furthermore, praising a survivor's resilience can be detrimental. Making informed decisions on how to act and what to say is of vital importance. I'll expand on these issues in this article.

How to boost your performance by exercising, and training your brain

Integrating the habit of exercising daily is vital for self-care. It benefits your performance in other areas also. Besides the widely known advantages of exercise boosting your energy, while the brain releasing happy chemicals like endorphins that trigger a positive feeling, there is also another way your performance and exercise intertwine - and you can use this to your benefit, if you’ve previously struggled to accomplish something you’ve been trying on multiple occasions, to no avail. I’m talking about a nifty combination of purpose, habits and inspired action.

Getting ready for performance after summer recess

Have you achieved what you were aiming for during the first half of 2021? Whether you have or you haven’t, Summertime is a good moment to assess where you’re at right now, and how you’d like to proceed in the upcoming months after Summer recess. I like choosing a different moment than the New Year to set my goals and planned actions anyway. Because if something didn't work out, it can be challenging to think that you didn’t perform well ‘just that one day’ instead of considering your off-day as being one big failed whole year, right off the bat. Let’s dive in a bit deeper.

Dealing With Zoom Fatigue

Social radio on Clubhouse brings back connection and depth

Social audio platform Clubhouse is rapidly getting traction and thriving in the media landscape. And it’s a welcome platform. Because it is relaxed, it facilitates in-depth conversations, and it’s all about connecting on a deeper level than likes and reposts. Of course there are some snags: privacy, and competing platforms that develop similar technology to get Clubhouse out of the way. Nothing new there… But what do we all do with Clubhouse, and what can you do with it?

Three Keys To Instigating Social Change

This post is about these three keys: to notice and to be noticed; to facilitate and to be facilitated; to empower, and to be empowered.

If these three things hadn't appeared on my path when I was a teenager, things would probably have turned out quite differently for me. Radical Empathy Is Not For The Faint Of Heart

Empathy, as most of us know, is the ability to imagine what someone feels, while going through something, and being able to empathize with that person's situation, by imagining yourself in that person's situation. Most people do have the natural ability to empathize, so let's assume that both of us do have it. We also notice people having short fuses more often. In the supermarket someone bumps into you without a mask, and coughs, with virus-infused splatter in a 5 feet radius, aerosols not included. This can be very annoying. And dangerous. No bueno. But can you still empathize with someone's discomfort of coughing uncontrollably?

Surrendering To Grow More Resilient

Today I'm sharing what I hope to be comforting and helpful to you. It has to do with #resilience, and dealing with loss, as many of us are. The main thought of today is: You are not what you have, and that's a BIG reassurance! Many people miss something, or a lot, of what they had in 'the old days', before you know what hit the globe. Perhaps it's a healthy turnover and good business, big in real life audiences for your keynotes, summer holidays, and that extra social ecosystem which is the office. Or perhaps other things you treasured.
